Imagine you are a gazillionaire. What would you choose to buy?
Well on sale today you can have:

Britain’s Most Expensive Parking Place- going for a mere £400,000 under the royal Albert Hall.

Or perhaps if you were a little peckish, you could Pop over to New York and order yourself a Bellissima pizza in Nino’s – yours for a small fee of only $1000.

Feeling decadently thirsty? You could treat yourself to the worlds most expensive brew with a PG tips diamond tea bag. Yours for the eyewatering pricetag of $14,000. People are crazy aren’t they?!!

The trouble is that people who value things don’t always value PEOPLE.

God is the richest person who has ever existed or will ever exist and do you know what he chose to do with his riches, with his wisdom and his knowledge? He chose to spend them on YOU.

God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit operate in a kind of investment business. They are partners whose sole aim is to get the most stock that they can. And that stock includes you.
In fact, they took a whole chapter of the Bible to talk about how they feel about us. In Luke 15 Jesus tells three stories — the lost son, the lost coin, and the lost sheep. It’s the same punch line in each story. Jesus is saying, “You matter! You are valuable to me. I will go looking for you if you get lost. I love you.”

You matter to God.

The passage we read yesterday tells us that “Not one sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs of our heads are all numbered.”

What does this tell us about God?
It shows us his minute attention to detail.

In the Bible 2 sparrows were worth less than a penny. And yet God cares for them and knows their destiny.
More than this, He is aware of something that we wouldn’t say mattered at all. Knowing that we have hair might matter to us. Knowing the number of hairs? Less so”¦ !

On the average there are over one hundred thousand strands of hair on a young adult.

God knows all that about you. Instantly. This means he knows if youre in love with someone, if you haven’t slept well, if you have a secret addiction to day time telly, if you need a good cry, if youre just checking Him out to see if He’s real”¦ in fact everything about you”¦
Why? Because he sees our value.

God I thank you today that no matter how I feel about my life and how others may have treated me, that I am valuable and precious in your sight and that you love me. Help me to live in the light of that truth today. Amen
