Hibernation
So many of my friends and contacts are currently going through a transitional season. I met up with one such friend today. A beautiful singer with a fresh sound and an anointed talent. As I was chatting to her I got a familiar picture in my mind. I have had it for a number of others at this time.
It is simply this:
I see the person curled into a ball, apparently asleep and very still. They are in a state of hibernation, waiting until it is safe and warm enough to venture out. For some of those I am in contact with, this season has been tough; sitting it out; nothing happening; apparent lifelessness all around.
But in hibernation no energy is wasted. An animal is hidden from the ravages of weather and predators. Hidden in warmth, storing and conserving what they have to last them through the winter.
Perhaps this is how it feels for you too. Perhaps you sense that you are in some kind of ‘time capsule’ where things are in slow mo, or have stopped altogether? You are waiting for things as yet unseen. I got quite excited today as I shared with my friend that she was far from lifeless, that her hibernation was soon to be over and a new dawn was on its way.
I pray today as you wait for your first deep breath in your new day, you would conserve your spiritual energy and know that when God hides us, He is protecting us from things we may never know about. You may not be ready to come out just yet. But spring is on its way my friend. Trust that.
