The best decision
Do you sometimes sense that no-one understands you? Do you have times where you feel alone or even lonely?
Read this beautiful passage with me from Lamentations 3:24-28
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.
27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke
while he is young.
28 Let him sit alone in silence,
for the LORD has laid it on him.
Reading this, my spirit just says, “YES! Someone who understands! Someone who knows! Someone who cares!”
How many times have you felt the need for silence and solitude lately? Perhaps, like me, your life is full of noise and people, priorities and pressing needs… and your silences are short and tend to be when you are asleep!
But this passage is very clear that spiritual health (which is my opinion is the MOST IMPORTANT KIND OF HEALTH THERE IS) is to be gained from the following pattern of living:
1. To know that God is all we need (our portion)
2. To purposely wait for and on Him
3. To hope in Him and know that all good things come from Him
4. To seek Him intentionally as a goal for each day
5. To purposely wait in quietness for His saving grace to appear in any situation
6. To trust from the earliest possible opportunity in life that God’s yoke (His steering, His way of moving forward, His direction and pace, what He has asked of us) constitute the best way to live
7.To find God in sitting and alone-ness.
I have found (and I keep finding) that choosing to live my life for God is the best decision I ever made. He IS all I need. I am also learning that however I feel, He is worthy of my praise – even when He does things in my life that I don’t like or understand. He is the most perfect Daddy, but I am not a perfect child!!
Some of you reading this have never made that choice. You know other people who live ‘for God’ in this way, but you know you don’t. You have been questioning in your mind recently whether there is more to life than your current experience. You have even found yourself asking deep questions about the meaning of life and the point of death. Is there a God at all? Is there a heaven? Is there meaning in suffering? You have worried about your children’s questions and the way in which they are developing. You want to get things right for them… but you are so aware that you too are looking for some answers for yourself.
Let me encourage you to seek God with all of you questions, doubts and fears. He is running to you even as you read this.
You may like to say this prayer to commit yourself to Him for the first time, or to rededicate the rest of your life to Him.
Father God,
Thank you for showing me that there is more to life than the life I have been living. Thank you for sending Your precious son Jesus to die in my place. Forgive me for attempting to live without You and for trying to find purpose and peace in other things. Thank you that you promise to send me your Holy spirit to dwell in me now and teach me how to be more like the person you created me to be. I give the rest of my days to you.
Amen
If you prayed this prayer WELCOME TO THE BIGGEST AND BEST FAMILY ON EARTH AND IN HEAVEN!!!!
Please let me know so that I can send you something that will help you make the next step on your journey of faith.
I pray now that this decision to walk with God marks a turning point from which you never turn back.
