Making a name
This morning, Jon and I met up with an old friend who told us about this amazing idea. It is a new charity called Creator’s Trust. Their incredibly countercultural strapline is gorgeous. It is simply this:
“Make a name for someone else.”
We are told the opposite in the world, are we not?!
Everything seems to be about making a name for yourself, not others.
Their website (http://www.creators.org.uk/site/) explains more:” Everybody starts somewhere. Spielberg started with his dad’s movie camera, the Rolling Stones with a classified ad. Every day people have brilliant ideas, but most are never started. Sometimes there’s a good reason, but more often than not it comes to down a lack of money, belief, or support. The problem in this economic environment is that it’s harder than ever to get going. That’s where we come in. Creators Trust is a charity that exists to help people like you and me shape the future of the creative economy in the UK and developing world. We’re a network of creative people who make a small donation every month so that together we can give grants to help hundreds of projects get off the ground.”
I love the idea of this! Perhaps you do too and feel called to make a difference to someone’s life by giving a small donation to this cause. The beautiful thing is, you cannot nominate yourself, only someone else…anywhere in the world.
So why not stop having that Latte Grande once a week and add the money you save to a big pot for someone else’s amazing idea to get off the ground?
